Jack stand ratings are for the pair, not per jack stand. And 3-ton stands will give you much better clearance to work under the vehicle. //@anonymous: Most SUV and mini Van weigh about 2 ton. Why in the world would you think half the vehicles weight is load on the jacks? You lower the vehicle onto them not raise them up with them. Majority of load will be on two front or two rear tires if you are using both jack stands to support the vehicle. More clearance? 40250 - 7500 (tax credit) + 1500 (charger installation) = 34k+ for a small car with questionable reliability and spartan interior. Enhanced Auto Pilot that comes with some cool features is an extra 6k. In some states, sales tax is waived on EV. That can add to the equation on saving + some states has individual incentive as well.
For example in NJ, no sale tax and $2000 credit for EV. That make it to more reasonable price. For the charger, if you want save every penny, you can just use NEMA connector, which cost you a lot less. //@Anonymous: 40250 - 7500 (tax credit) + 1500 (charger installation) = 34k+ for a small car with questionable reliability and spartan interior. The credit is available to individuals and their businesses.
To qualify, you must:
Buy it for your own use, not for resale
Use it primarily in the U.S.
In addition, your modified adjusted gross income (AGI) may not exceed:
$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
$225,000 for heads of households
$150,000 for all other filers
You can use your modified AGI from the year you take delivery of the vehicle or the year before, whichever is less. If your modified AGI is below the threshold in 1 of the two years, you can claim the credit.
The credit is nonrefundable, so you can't get back more on the credit than you owe in taxes. You can't apply any excess credit to future tax years.

You can't apply any excess credit to future tax years.

have you seen the gas prices? //@Anonymous: with the increasing price of electricity, Tesla is less attractive than before.

On Tesla's website, it says "6 years, potential gas saving: $5400". It doesn't seem to be a lot. Each month only $75 saving?

What they are saying 7500$ tax rebate is only till March? Sales tactics? I thought the tax rebate is long term.
Anonymous
So the tax credit only works if the sales price of the car is < 55,000. There are no model 7 Long Range under 55K near me. :) Like within 250 miles. Tempting but I'll hold off.
Anonymous
there are lots of fine prints to get the credits. model Y was not qualify due to some silly rules originally. They had to lower price to qualify but the terms are being reviewed. I am guessing they will raise the price back in March when those terms get refreshed. So this discount wouldn't last long. Its just to stay competitive and take the advantage of tax credits for customers. //@Anonymous: What they are saying 7500$ tax rebate is only till March? Sales tactics?
